The Community Gates Grant was awarded on October 6, 2003 following a tremendous effort from the entire community. The Community Council, a group of citizens who have volunteered to help coordinate the planning of these efforts, will be meeting over the rest of the school year to better define the community's needs, to organize the solicitation of proposals (an “RFP”, or Request for Proposals) from the community, and to rank these proposals against the community's needs. The first of several RFPs was issued on June 30, 2004. Several additional proposals have since been issued with 30 projects being funded to a total of over $35,000. The eighth RFP was issued on November 14, 2008 with proposals due on January 9, 2009. Click here if you would like to download a copy of this RFP.
The Center for Student Action, a student-run organization, will organize and support teams of students to address the most highly ranked proposals.
The Community Council, which serves as the District's Vocational Advisory Committee, reviews the proposals and awards grants to high ranking projects.
