Northwest Career and Technical Academy: Possible Satellites in San Juan County

SAN JUAN COUNTY HAS STEPPED UP! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE SURVEY. THE FINAL REPORT IS OUT AND CAN BE DOWNLOADED FROM HERE (Satellite Skill Center Feasibility Study).

Home What is a Skill Center? What do Students Gain? Are there other Skill Centers?

We are being offered an opportunity to create a satellite campus to the Northwest Career and Technical Academy (NWCTA). This academy will be a Skill Center and join several others in the State. You can read about skill centers by following the links above.

Whether going directly into the workplace, or continuing their education through an apprenticeship community college, or university, the NWCTA will provide students with the skills, knowledge and professional leadership training necessary for future success.

The academy's main campus, located adjacent to the Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon, will offer hands-on professional training taught by industry professionals in the anticipated fields of: Finance, Culinary Arts, Digtal Technologh, DigiPen Computer Science, Veterinary Technology, and Professional Medical Careers. the adacemy will also feature several satellite programs. The first satellite program will be a facility loated on Port of Anacortes property which will focus on studies in Marine Technology. San Juan County has been offered the opportunity to explore creating one or more satellite campuses on one or more islands.

This has great potential. If successful, San Juan County would substantially increase the educational opportunities to all students. Advanced skills are important to all graduates, whether college bound or not.

In order to obain funding for capital expenditures to support these possibilities, we have been asked to conduct several surveys. The results of these surveys will reveal the extent of community, educator, parental, and student support. This is a crucial element required to pursuade others of our need.

The survey shouldn't take but a few moments to complete. Please click on the appropriate link below to take your online survey. And thank you!
