I am so excited to walk with you and support you on your language learning journey.
For me, language learning has become a never-ending game full of challenges and thrills. It is a game that connects us with all kinds of diverse people and can take us all over the world. I personally get most excited about life when my two passions, language learning and the study of textile arts, overlap. For years I have been seeking-out opportunities in different Spanish-speaking countries where I can learn to weave, dye with natural pigments, embroider, and experiment with other textile crafts alongside talented local artisans. I have found that the Spanish language is just as colorful as the intricate art that first attracted me to the Spanish-speaking world. As your Spanish teacher, I invite you to play the grand language-learning game. Who knows, you might never want to stop learning Spanish.
I would like to share one of my favorite quotes with you:
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” - Mark Twain.
I truly believe that we can "travel" in our Spanish classroom using technology and by exploring language and culture through authentic media sources, readings, realia and discussions.
Please come visit me in room 204 at the high school. I would love to talk to you in Spanish or English.
