Transition to Kindergarten
Transition to Kindergarten (TtK) is a no-cost, full-day early learning program for 4-year-olds who do not have access to early learning experiences. The goal of the TtK program is to provide a high-quality early learning experience that prepares students for a successful, seamless transition to kindergarten. Children may enter TtK based on a pre-screening process to determine their need for additional early learning to prepare them for kindergarten the following year.
Like all kindergarten classes, this program is full-day and follows the school year calendar.
To be eligible to enroll, a student must meet the following criteria:
- Be 4 years old by August 31 of the year they are starting TtK, but not 5 on this date.
- Live within the boundaries of San Juan Island School District.
- The family completes an interest survey.
- Priority enrollment may be given to children who do not have preschool experience or who demonstrate a need for guided support.
The deadline to complete an interest survey for the 2025-2026 school year has ended. If you have questions, please contact Dr. Becky Bell at beckybell@sjisd.org or 360-370-7911.
