Before you apply for a scholarship read the qualifications and look to see what previous recipients have done in order to receive the scholarship. This will help you decide if you are a viable candidate.
There are many other free scholarship search engines. Please remember, you do not have to pay to search for scholarships, any reputable search engine is free.

Ron Brown Scholars Program:Minimum of ten scholarships in the program have a value of $10,000 each renewable for four years for academically talented, highly motivated African-American students. Applicants must excel academically, show exceptional leadership potential, and make an impact on their communities through service to others.

BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU – STUDENTS OF INTEGRITY SCHOLARSHIP :A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior in the states of Alaska, Oregon or Washington. This is an essay contest of 1000 words or less discussing ethics and integrity in the marketplace.Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award: One local $500 award, additional regional awards and one national award. For young women ages 14-17 who have had significant and noteworthy accomplishments as a volunteer.
AXA Achievement Scholarship 52 state winners – one from each state will receive $10,000. This is geared toward students who set and reach ambitions goals, demonstrate drive, determination and ability to succeed in college and who have respect for self, family and community. Apply online at LINK
Seattle HIROSHIMA CLUB Scholarship Trust Fund Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors. To be eligible, an applicant's parents, grandparents or ancestors must be from Hiroshima Prefecture. Parents or guardian must be a member of the Hiroshima Club by the time the scholarship application is submitted (annual fee of $5 per person). Applicants are judged on academics (minimum GPA of 3.6), school, and community extracurricular activities. American Legion Constitutional Speech Contest Winners receive a total of $5,000 in scholarship monies and a chance to win part of the $138,000 national scholarship pool. This speech contest is open to high school students. The subject must be on some aspect of the Constitution of the United States with emphasis on the duties and obligations of a citizen to our government and must be no less than 3 and no more than 5 minutes of time. ELKS LEGACY Scholarship
Legacy Awards are $4000 scholarships ($1000 per year for four years). This is open to any child or grandchild of a living Elk that is a paid up member. Applicant must be a senior and have taken the SAT. LINK
Washington NASA Space Grant Scholarships Interested in robotics, astronomy, photonics, nanotechnology, physics, astrobiology, or space travel? Scholarship awards for incoming UW freshmen range from $1,000 to $5,500 per year, renewable up to four years. To be eligible for these scholarships, applicants must be Washington state residents and U.S. citizens planning to major in a science, mathematics, or engineering discipline at the University of Washington. O’Donnell Family Multiple Sclerosis Fund Scholarship Program Awards vary from $1500 to $3000. The O’Donnell Family MS Scholarship Fund, in collaboration with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Scholarship Program, provided scholarships specifically to students from Washington state. High school seniors who have MS or who have a parent with MS who will be attending an accredited postsecondary school for the first time will be eligible. Applicants must be from the geographical area of the state of Washington. Complete the online application and submit a personal statement on how MS has impacted your life. LINK
NATIVE AMERICAN NATURAL RESOURCES SCHOLARSHIP The Truman D. Picard Scholarship Program has $1500 for graduating high school seniors who are pursuing a higher education in Natural Resources. Students must be enrolled in a federally recognized tribe or Alaska Native corporation. LINK
Sam Walton COMMUNITY Scholarship A $3,000 college scholarship available to graduating seniors with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and a demonstrated financial need.. LINK
Walmart Associate Scholarship $3,000 college scholarship is available to Walmart associates or dependents of associates who are graduating seniors with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and a demonstrated financial need. LINK
Walton Family Foundation Scholarship Administered by the Walmart Foundation, the Walton Family Foundation Scholarship is a $13,000 scholarship paid out over four years. Applicants must be dependents of Walmart associates, have at least a 22 ACT or 1030 SAT (Critical Reading + Math) score and prove financial need. LINKFEBRUARY DEADLINES
“IT”S ALWAYS SOMETHING” TEEN WRITING CONTEST – DEADLINE 2/1/2010
A $2500 scholarship will be awarded to the first place winner. This is a teen writing contest sponsored by Gilda’s Club of Seattle. It is open to teens in grades 9 – 12 in Washington State who have been touched by cancer either through a personal diagnosis or that of a family member or friend. For more details LINK.
ESA (Epsilon Sigma Alpha) Foundation Scholarships ESA is a service organization dedicated to volunteerism and philanthropy. They offer scholarships and endowments ranging from $300 to $1000. You may apply for a maximum of three. Criteria include scholastic ability, financial need, service, leadership and character. BURGER KING SCHOLARS PROGRAM & BURGER KING EMPLOYEE SCHOLARS $1000 is awarded to graduating seniors with a 2.5 or higher GPA, work part-time for at least 15 hours per week, demonstrate financial need, and participate a community service and extracurricular activities. LINK
PHI DELTA KAPPA Scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a student pursuing a career in education. Applicants must meet the criteria in this LINK
GIRL SCOUT Achievement Award $1,000 will be awarded to an applicant that has earned the Girl Scout Gold award. For more criteria see this LINK.
KFC COLONEL’S SCHOLARSHIP Up to $20,000 will be given to outstanding seniors with financial need and entrepreneurial spirit to qualify for the KFC Colonel’s Scholars program. To qualify, seniors must have a minimum GPA of 2.75, plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree at a public university in Washington State and demonstrate financial need. LINK
R.H. THOMSON SCHOLARSHIP $5000 will be awarded by the Seattle section of Engineers to a senior pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. LINK

GIRLS GOING PLACES – Entrepreneurship Award Program 1000 – $10,000. This scholarship is seeking young women that demonstrate budding entrepreneurship – making a difference in their school and community; started a new business or service; and are taking the first steps to financial independence. BEST BUY SCHOLARSHIP 1500 seniors will be selected to receive awards of $1500 each. An additional 51 students will receive awards of $10,000 each. Criteria includes a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, demonstrate a commitment to and involvement in volunteer community service or work experience, plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-or four-year college, voc-tech school. SPORTS MEDICINE Scholarships Here are 5 scholarships for seniors intending to earn a degree in the medical field that have a minimum 3.0 GPA and are currently in the AMHS Sports Med program. AMHS can nominate two students. LINK
McDonalds & Ronald McDonald House(RMHC/Asia, RMHC/African American Future Achievers, RMHC/HACER, RMHC Scholars) onald McDonald Care offers scholarships to students in financial need who have demonstrated academic achievement and community involvement. Students may only apply for one of the four scholarships listed. LINK
USA Funds / Northwest Education Loan Association USA Funds will award $1500 scholarships to students from Washington and Idaho with economic need. Additionally, up to 50 percent of the scholarship awards will be targeted to applicants who are members of an ethnic-minority group or have a documented physical disability. Ethnic-minority groups are defined as follows: Alaskan Native, American Indian, Asian, Black/African-American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander. ELKS Vocational Grant Award Awards ranging from $800-$1500 will be awarded to students pursuing an education at a Washington State Vocational/Technical school. See the Career Center for an application.
Horsemen’s Scholarship This is available to children of horse farm and back stretch employees. Scholarships are for tuition only up to $6000 per year for up to four years.
Washington THROUGHBRED Foundation This award is available to Washington state residents from any background wishing to pursue a career in the equine industry. LINK
MARCH DEADLINES
Washington State Employees Credit Union (WSECU)WSECU will award twenty $2,000 scholarships to full time students attending a four-year school and seven $1,000 scholarships for applicants who will study at a two-year community college or vocational school. Applications and instructions will be available online starting Jan. 4, 2010. LINKASSOCIATION OF COMPUTER PROFESSIONALS IN EDUCATION $2500 will be awarded to seniors demonstrating high interest and innovative use of technology during high school, community and school involvement, plans to pursue studies in a technology related field. This scholarship is open to seniors from the states of Oregon and Washington. LINK
Ewing C Kelly Scholarship The Kelly Foundation of Washington is offering $2500 awards in honor of a longtime radio and television broadcaster and designed to reward students who demonstrate good citizenship while striving to attain their academic goals. Applicants will be judges on their academic merit, extra-curricular achievements – both scholastically and in their community—and financial need. See the Career Center for an application. Washington State School Retiree’s / The Robert J. Handy Memorial Scholarship – Sixteen Robert J. Handy Memorial scholarships will be granted in the amount of $900 per year, renewable for a total of four years to high school seniors who are committed to entering the teaching profession. The WSSR-Foundation grants eight scholarships in the amount of $1500 each for one year only. Recipients of this scholarship will be selected from the first alternates for the Robert J Handy Scholarships. LINK
WASHINGTON ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS / PEMCO – DEADLINE (21st Century Educator Scholarship)Three $4,000 scholarships are available to high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in education. The scholarships are awarded to students from within three pools: Eastern WA, Western WA, and minorities. Must have a GPA of 3.0, exhibit leadership in a wide variety of activities, and intends to pursue a career in education. Application for 2010 will be available soon. LINK
SEMI - Pacific Northwest Steering Committee Scholarship The SEMI Foundation will be offering three $2000 scholarships to high school seniors pursing degrees in high technology fields. Applicants must have attended and be on track to graduate from high school in Idaho, Oregon, Washington or Utah to be eligible. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, pursuing a degree in a high tech related curriculum such as Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, etc. and must be attending a college or university in the 2010/2011 academic year. BYU-WASHINGTON ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP Scholarships vary and are based on a combination of need and merit. The stated goal of the BYUWA Scholarship Committee is to reward worthy LDS students from Western Washington with scholarships/grants to enable them to start or continue their education. LINK
Microsoft – Blacks at Microsoft Scholarship Blacks at Microsoft is a company-sponsored diversity organization dedicated to supporting the continued growth and development of African-American employees at Microsoft. They will award two $5,000 scholarships to outstanding high school seniors who are interested in pursuing careers in technology. The scholarships are renewable up to four years. LINK
BECU FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS Twenty-five $2000 scholarships are awarded to students. You must be a BECU member and have a 3.0 or higher GPA. Applications will be available online beginning January 1. LINK
Washington BURGLAR & FIRE ALARM Association $2000 will be awarded to two students who are related to Law Enforcement and Fire Service Personnel. Students must write an essay on how our parent or guardian helps us secure our community. More information can be found here - LINK

DigiPen – Women in Technology Scholarship DigiPen is offering ten, $1000 scholarships to female applicants. LINKFort Lewis Family Member Scholarship You are eligible if you are a family member of an active duty military person assigned to Fort Lewis, a surviving family member of a military person last assigned to Fort Lewis or a surviving member of a military person residing within a 50 mile radius of Fort Lewis, or a family member of a retired Army person residing within a 50 mile radius of Fort Lewis. Applications are judged based on a wide variety of criteria, including leadership, volunteerism, academics and an essay response. Applicants are chosen by an impartial panel of judges to guarantee the integrity of the application process. The judges do not know the identity of the students whose packets they are reviewing. LINK
JACK CRAMER Athletic Trainer Scholarship One $2000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving high school senior who is planning to embark on a career as a certified athletic trainer in a high school setting. Application and worksheet are online. LINK
GRANGE SCHOLARSHIPS Assorted scholarships are for seniors in either an academic or vocational area of study. You must be a child or grandchild of a Grange Insurance Association (GIG) policyholder or employee in WA. LINK
WASHINGTON STATE COACHES – Burnett Ennis Scholarship This scholarship is for children whose parents are a member of the Washington State Coaches Association. LINK
EDMUND F MAXWELL Foundation Scholarship This is a scholarship for Western Washington students planning on attending an INDEPENDENT institution (not a STATE school). Freshman amounts will be around $5000. LINK

Seattle Mariners Women’s Club “Bev & Wes Stock Scholarship” $1500 will be awarded to a deserving student athlete who displays good character both on and off the playing field, no matter what sport, who is planning to pursue an athletic-related career and will be attending a college or university in the coming academic year.
