Degrees and Certifications:
BA in Psychology- University of Washington M.Ed. in Professional School Counseling- City University of Seattle
Hello! My name is Hailey Henderson-Paul, and at school students and parents can call me Hailey. This school year (2023-24) is my third year as the full-time High School Counselor, though I have worked at Friday Harbor Middle and High schools for the last five years. Before moving to the island full time in 2018, I spent summers working on the docks at Roche Harbor while I was getting my undergraduate degree from the University of Washington. Once I finished my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Law, Societies, and Justice, I went on to earn my Master's of Education in Professional School Counseling from the City University of Seattle.
When not at school, I spend my time gardening, hiking, skiing, learning to speak Italian, scuba diving, and traveling during summer breaks. So far I've been to Nepal, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Italy, France, Spain, and Chile.
My next adventure is starting a family! My first little one is due in February 2024, so I will not be at school for most of our second semester this year. The previous FHHS counselor, Gordy Waite, will be covering my maternity leave. He is an expert in school counseling and will be a great resource to students in my absence!
My favorite thing about being a high school counselor is getting to know the stories of our students here in FH, and seeing them grow into awesome young adults.
