Inclement Weather Protocol for Employees - 2 step process
There are two steps you'll need to review when it comes to reporting your time when bad weather hits. Please review them below.
-
1. A change to the school schedule has occured due to poor weather
When you've been notified that there is a change to the school schedule, unless you are contracted to work year round or 260 days, DO NOT report any absences until you are informed if school will be extended to make up for the missed time.
Instead, make note of whether you were able to work that day or not and hang tight until you hear further information from HR.
-
2. Report your absence accordingly through an HR Survey
Once the determination has been made that the schools will experience a delayed start, a cancelation with the need to make up the days at the end of the year, or a cancelation with no need to make up the days at the end of the year, HR will send out a survey asking employees to attest to their ability to come to work. The survey will have several options to choose from as shown below:
- DELAYED START:
- If a delayed start has been determined, you will receive a survey from HR with the following options to attest to your ability to work on that day. The options will appear as follows:
- You were able to report to work without delay and could work your entire scheduled day.
- You were able to arrive to work at the determined delayed start time, and would like to use emergency leave (taken from sick leave balances), personal leave, or unpaid leave to cover the amount of time you were not able to report to work.
- You were not able to report to work and would like to use emergency leave, personal, or unpaid leave for the duration of your daily shift.
- If a delayed start has been determined, you will receive a survey from HR with the following options to attest to your ability to work on that day. The options will appear as follows:
- SCHOOL CANCELATION - NO NEED TO MAKE UP ADDITIONAL SCHOOL DAYS
- If it's determined that the district does not need to make up any school days following a cancelation, the employees on the following calendars will need to attest to their ability to come to work:
- Classified staff who work 260, 210, 190, and 180 days per year.
- They will be asked the same series of questions as noted above.
- If it's determined that the district does not need to make up any school days following a cancelation, the employees on the following calendars will need to attest to their ability to come to work:
- SCHOOL CANCELATION - NEED TO MAKE UP ADDITIONAL SCHOOL DAYS
- In the case that the district does need to make up school days following a cancelation, certificated employees and employees working 180 days will be expected to report to work on those days and will not need to report any hours of absence.
- Classified Staff who work 210 days or 190 days per year:
- These employees are expected to work the additional days added to the school year in addition to their contract days following the end of the school year to ensure they work the total 190 or 210 days assigned.
- Employees who work 260 days per year will be asked the same questions as noted under 'Delayed Start'.
